Sharing the News, Saving My Energy

This week started with something really special, our 12-week scan, followed by a lovely lunch with my mum. It was such a surreal and emotional experience seeing our little baby on the screen. This time, the shape was less jelly bean and more tiny human, which made it all feel so much more real.
The scan was at 11am, which meant... yes, the infamous full bladder predicament. Let me tell you, holding it in while pregnant is no joke. I had to wee as soon as I woke up (classic), then drank a couple of pints of water over the next few hours to refill. By the time we got to the hospital, I was ready to burst.
Thankfully, all baby measurements came back fine, and my bloods looked good too, putting me in the low-risk category. A huge relief!
Now that everything looked good, we were finally able to share our pregnancy news. It was such an emotional moment, exciting, of course, but also a tough reminder that my Dad isn’t here to share this part of the journey with us. We found peace in the fact that we had told him in earlier weeks, and he was well enough at the time to take it in and feel the joy with us. That memory will stay with me forever.
Skipping forward to Wednesday, I had the pleasure of attending the Golfbreaks Women’s Golf Social at Skratch Golf in Birmingham. For those who don’t know, Golfbreaks is one of the world’s leading golf travel companies, creating incredible golf holidays, retreats, and events, especially championing women in golf through tailored experiences like this one.
Skratch is such a great facility: six simulators, cosy lounge areas, food, drinks, and most importantly, a super welcoming vibe. It’s not overly fancy or intimidating, just fun, inclusive, and full of great people who truly support women’s golf and just golf in general. I’ve been several times and will always recommend the place.
I was also finally able to start telling some of the golf girlies about my pregnancy. 💕
But this night also taught me something important: pregnancy fatigue is real. After a full day at work, heading into the city for an evening event took its toll. It really hit me how much more attention I need to pay to my time and energy.
Pregnancy this week:
Quality over quantity; in golf, in work, in life.
Rest is non-negotiable; listen to your body, not your calendar.
This journey is teaching me more than I expected, and I’m learning balance life a bit better.
Here's to more slow, steady swings and soaking in the little moments.
