Golf and the Grand Prix with the Majesticks

Updated: Jul 11

This week, I’m skipping straight to the weekend because it was one for the memory books!

James, Will, and I had the incredible opportunity to be part of the Majesticks Little Sticks team, running their Family Zone activation at the F1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. We volunteered across Saturday and Sunday, and honestly it was an unforgettable mix of golf, family fun, fast cars, and pregnancy survival.

We arrived Friday evening and set up camp so we’d be ready to go first thing Saturday morning. Camping while pregnant? Surprisingly wasn’t too bad. One bit of advice, always go to the toilet right before bed, you’ll thank me later. Other than that, it was a breeze, especially with a partner who took on the heavy lifting (shoutout to James!).

The Little Sticks activation was brilliant, with multiple zones where kids could try golf and learn the basics in a fun, welcoming space. And to top it off, Ian Poulter (my absolute idol and one of the many reasons I support the Majesticks!) showed up to coach the kids. It was such an awesome moment to see him giving back and inspiring the next generation.

Volunteering came with the great perk of being able to explore the Grand Prix, walk around the track, and catch a few races. It was such a unique way to experience the event.

Let’s just say… my body definitely noticed the effort.

After what felt like a million squats to get down to kid height, being on my feet for 6+ hours, and walking the grounds, I was wiped out. And then I went and danced to Fatboy Slim for over an hour in the evening (yes, I know that was my own doing but Fatboy Slim is INCREDIBLE). By Sunday morning, I felt every ache.

But I put my big girl pants on and showed up for day two with Little Sticks.

One thing I didn’t expect was evening sickness. I didn’t feel too bad during the first trimester, and I never had the standard morning sickness, but now, come 3pm, I hit a wall. I start to flag and feel nauseous in the evenings. It’s weird, but pregnancy really does have a mind of its own. I’ve been told ginger biscuits might help, so I’ll give them a go and report back!

Volunteering at such a huge event while pregnant was challenging, but so rewarding. It reminded me that while I can still do the things I love, I just need to listen to my body, rest when I need to, and take things a little slower.
